  •
  • PI, Lazca’daki Tematik Ekler ve Eylem Sınıfları. 2012-2014. Boğaziçi University Research Fund. Description: The theoretical scope of the project is to examine the distribution of thematic suffixes added to the verbs in Laz and to determine the action classes in Laz language. For this purpose, five main dialects of Laz will be examined: Pazar, Ardeşen, Fındıklı, Arhavi and Hopa. The data collected from these dialects will be examined theoretically within the scope of the criteria for determining the classes of action envisaged in Filmore (1970) and Levin and Rappaport-Hovav (1991) based on this study.
  •
  • Researcher, Inferring the Evolutionary History of Turkic Languages using Answer Set Programming. 2007-2009.TÜBİTAK. PI: Esra Erdem (Sabancı Üniversitesi). Description: One of the goals of the proposed project is to reconstruct the evolutionary history of Turkic languages by using the phylogenetic system that will be developed in the project. The most relevant studies on this subject are related to the classification of Turkic languages according to either geographical or phonological principles; however, evaluation of languages with respect to each criterion has not always produced plausible results. In this study, we will gather and compile phonological, lexical, morphological, geographical, temporal information, and, for the first time, the evolutionary history of Turkic languages will be thoroughly investigated using computational methods and considering various sorts of criteria at the same time. By this way, Turkic languages will be studied, from the viewpoint of inference of evolutionary history, according to the criteria used for other language families, and thus will take its place in the literature.
  •
  • PI, Lazca’daki Durum ve Uyum Eklerinin Biçimbirimsel ve Sözdizimsel Özellikleri. 2007-2008. Boğaziçi University Research Fund (BAP 07HB402). Description: In this project the typological and theoretical scope of the morphological and syntactic features of the case and syntactic suffixes in Laz spoken in Rize's Pazarı and Ardeşen districts are discussed and a documentation is made in the general syntactic parts of this language. In this study, the features of case and agreement suffixes will be examined and evaluated within the scope of generative linguistics theory, based on the top dictionary sources of native Laz speakers.
